NYC - First impressions
Typically one would not wait for a week to tell you about their first impressions. I decided to give this city a chance and here is how it goes.
- City generates more garbage than any other place I have known.
- This place always has life.
- You will only get good customer service at places that *expect* a large tip(30%).
- In services where tipping cannot be provided, such as telecom, personal banking, grocery shopping etc, there is minimal/inconsistent quality of service. (Yes, I work in service industry)
- There is no cover for you when it rains. Carry an Umbrella!!
- Parking is extremely expensive. (Yes you start noticing such stuff when you own anything with wheels)
- Riding a subway is more expensive than driving a car(parking excluded).
- You will find people from all over the world here.... truly international.
- Houses/hotel rooms are small...... I mean very small...... really small.
- If there is someone in office after 6pm, there is a 95% chance that he/she is Asian.
- Obesity is everywhere.
- If you are a typical Asian, you may not be able to finish a standard 3 course meal.
- People know very well how to separate work from personal life
